In July 2025, Tony Chapman was appointed as head of Crawford Global Technical Services (GTS) for Asia. Based in Singapore, he oversees complex loss adjusting activities throughout the region as well as coordinating any global assignments originating from Asia-based reinsurers.
Tony’s career started at an insurance company in the UK before moving into loss adjusting in the early 1990s and international loss adjusting in 2004. He has lived in Asia since 2007, both in Hong Kong and Singapore, holding senior adjusting roles at other firms before joining Crawford. During his career, he has undertaken assignments in nearly 30 countries across the world.
Tony is recognised as one of the Asia region’s leading adjusters for construction, engineering and power losses. He is also recognised for and handles a portfolio of product liability/product recall losses. He is a firm believer in knowledge sharing and devotes time as a volunteer committee member of Asia Power Forum which organises one of the leading insurance conferences held in the region on an annual basis. He regularly speaks at training events for the Singapore College of Insurance.
In recent times, Tony’s work has included an extensive amount of supervision of other firms of loss adjusters (including international companies) on behalf of reinsurers. Reflecting on this, Tony comments: “For all losses, a key ingredient for a successful outcome is transparent and effective communication to manage the needs of all stakeholders in the process. All too often in my experience, good work undertaken by adjusters is undone by poor communication and stakeholder engagement leading to unrealistic positions being adopted which prolong and complicate claim settlement.”
In terms of his new role with GTS Asia, Tony is currently working to establish a clear strategy and direction of travel but has already formulated some views.
“I’m very clear that there is an enormous amount of technical capability across Asia to support the GTS proposition,”
explains Tony,
“But at the moment I feel this has limited visibility. It’s difficult for clients and customers to understand what our skill levels are and who they need to speak to when certain types of claims arise. I’m determined to create a forum where all my teams’ vertical skills are clearly set out so clients can see who we are, what we do and exactly who they need to talk to when challenging claims arise.”
Clearly, this won’t be a walk in the park so let’s wish Tony every success in reshaping Crawford’s GTS offering in Asia.
