Rob Walters brings deep expertise, steady leadership and a people-first mindset to his role as Operations Director. Leading a team of Investigators and Adjusters, he focuses on delivering timely, effective recovery solutions that help our clients and their insureds move forward with confidence.
A career built on experience and leadership
With nearly three decades P&C claims and over 19 years in leadership roles, Rob has built a career specializing in Casualty and Subrogation. His background spans complex claims environments, catastrophe coordination and operational leadership, supported by respected industry designations including CPCU, AIC, and FCLS. He has also served as an Auto and Property CAT coordinator, adding depth to his already broad expertise.
Seeing subrogation differently
When asked about common misconceptions in subrogation, Rob is quick to reframe the narrative. “Subrogation is not all about the money,” he explains. “It’s about helping a carrier deliver on their promise of taking care of their insureds.”
One trend that has stood out recently is an increase in delays when it comes to paying for what is owed, a challenge that requires persistence, clarity and strong process management. If there were one part of the subrogation process that he could automate, it would be sending demands, freeing teams to focus on higher-value work.
Among the most complex cases he has handled are New York PIP claims, where navigating use qualifiers and managing NYCTA and MTA claims brings unique challenges. These experiences have reinforced the importance of preparation, attention to detail and a deep understanding of jurisdictional requirements.
For those new to subrogation, his advice is simple and direct. Dig in, be persistent, do not take no for an answer and know your state negligence laws.
Leading by making it easier for others
At the heart of Rob’s leadership style is a focus on enabling success.
“My leadership superpower is figuring out how to make it easy for my team to be successful,”
he shares.
That philosophy shows up in how he supports his team through challenging cases. No one works alone. Collaboration, shared learning and mutual support are central to how the team operates.
A lesson from a mentor continues to guide him today: be present and available, understand how each team member is doing and when you are in a claim file, do everything you can every time you are there.
Rob’s focus on supporting his team, working collaboratively and putting policyholders first remains a driving force behind Praxis’ momentum and leadership in the industry.
