Philippines Earthquake

A powerful earthquake has struck the Philippines, impacting parts of the southern region, including Mindanao. Early reports indicate significant structural damage to buildings, disruption to critical infrastructure, and casualties, with emergency services mobilised across affected areas. 

The earthquake, reported at a high magnitude, was followed by a series of aftershocks and prompted tsunami alerts in parts of the region, which were issued as a precautionary measure by authorities. 

Local authorities, supported by national emergency agencies, have activated response protocols, including evacuation measures and the deployment of rescue and relief operations in impacted communities.

Hospitals and emergency services have been operating under pressure, with some facilities sustaining damage and relocating patients to temporary outdoor treatment areas. 

Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the impact, with ongoing aftershocks posing additional challenges to response efforts.
