Cyclone Tauktae

Cyclone Tauktae set a deep depression over the Arabian Sea, close to Lakshadweep on 14 May 2021 night.

The cyclone intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm with wind speeds of 150- 175 kmph on 16 May 2021 and is expected to intensify further in the next 12 hours. Heavy to very heavy rain in various parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra, and Gujarat is expected.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department, cyclone Tauktae is very likely to move north-northwest and would make landfall in Gujarat on 18 May 2021 with a wind speed of up to 185 kmph.
