Overview
Residents driven from their homes following flooding of Missouri and Mississippi river basins
Flood warnings and advisories began on Sunday, March 17, as heavy rain and melting snow flooded towns across eastern Nebraska, southern Wisconsin and parts of Iowa. A state of emergency has been declared in all three states. The most deadly conditions arose as a result of breached levees in both Iowa and Nebraska. Hundreds of homes and businesses have been affected, and residents are fleeing for higher ground.
