Updates

Nov 17, 2025

Storm Claudia brought severe weather over the weekend across England and Wales, with widespread flooding and disruption reported in several regions. A major incident was declared in parts of the country and more than 90 flood warnings remain in place. While the yellow rain warning has lifted, conditions remain challenging, particularly in areas such as Monmouth where severe flooding has cut off communities.

Current activity

Crawford teams were active throughout the weekend supporting customers impacted by the storm. At this stage, we have not seen a significant uplift in claims volumes; however, experience shows that flood-related notifications often come later as property owners focus on initial clean-up. The majority of claims received so far relate to storm damage rather than flooding.

To ensure readiness, Crawford has invoked its surge response plan. Our people are prepared to manage increased claim volumes, and adjusters are available to visit customers in affected areas as soon as access allows.

Looking ahead

It is still early days and we anticipate further claims as the full impact of Storm Claudia becomes clear. The forecasted cold weather this week introduces additional risks that could lead to secondary losses as saturated building materials combined with freezing temperatures can cause expansion, leading to cracked foundations and basement walls. There is also an increased risk of burst pipes as water in plumbing systems may freeze, causing pipes to burst and resulting in additional water damage when thawing occurs.

Crawford will continue to monitor developments closely and deploy resources where needed to support customers through this challenging period. You can be sure that Crawford will be there with the right team, the right technology, and the right processes to help restore lives, businesses and communities.

We will provide more updates as they become available.
