As details of the devastation on Hawaii unfold, Crawford & Company continues to respond as needed, with our first wave of adjusters landing in Hawaii on Sunday, August 13 and more on the way today, August 14.
The estimated cost to rebuild is currently at $5.52 billion, with approximately 3K properties damaged, making this the second largest insured loss in Hawaii’s history.

On August 9, Hawaii declared a state of emergency due to the wildfires spreading rapidly in Lahaina, Hawaii on the island of Maui. The catastrophic fires spread rapidly, leaving thousands of residents displaced, nearly 11,000 without power, and a current death toll of 55 people.
As of today, the wildfire in Lahaina is now 80% contained, with firefighters still working on putting it out, along with two other fires on the island. FEMA is assisting Maui with ongoing recovery efforts. We estimate that the total property losses currently amount to approximately 1.59 billion dollars, impacting 3,831 properties.
