Hurricane Sally batters the gulf coast with strong winds and heavy rainfall.

UPDATE — 17 September 2020

Hurricane Sally made landfall near Gulf Shores, AL, as a Category 2 hurricane on September, 16, producing maximum sustained winds of over 100 mph. Significant flooding and wind damage were experienced across the gulf coast. More than 500,000 homes and businesses are still without power, and flooded roads are making it difficult for first responders to navigate.

Crawford Catastrophe Services has resources on the ground in affected areas responding to the client. Additionally, our Specialized Flood Team has been deployed to respond to this unprecedented event. As Sally moves northeast, residents through southeastern Alabama, central Georgia and South Carolina are expecting torrential rain and flash flooding. Crawford is continuing to follow this storm and stands ready to assist in any affected areas.

ORIGINAL UPDATE — 14 September 2020

Sally continues to strengthen off the coast of Louisiana. Now a Category 1 hurricane, Sally is scheduled to make landfall on the northern Gulf Coast tomorrow. This slow-moving storm poses a significant storm surge and wind damage threat.

Hurricane and tropical storm warnings have been issued for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Residents are preparing for storm surges of up to 11 feet and winds exceeding 75 mph as a result of Sally. Additionally, evacuation orders have been issued for residents living in several parishes and counties in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.

Crawford Catastrophe Services is monitoring Sally and preparing to deploy adjusters to the area once the storm passes. Our adjusters can respond onsite when necessary and via desk adjusting in order to honor social distancing protocols.
