Overview
The 5-Day Catastrophe Field Property Training is designed for students looking to learn about the property claim adjusting profession. The course will be offered via virtual setting utilizing Microsoft Teams. Students in this course will be taught how to be a fantastic property claim adjuster. The student will learn how to read and interpret an insurance policy, customer experience tips, property damage scoping, file documentation, and how to write professional estimates using Xactimate’s best practices. This course is designed to build a solid foundation for an adjuster’s first deployment or fine tune your adjuster skills. The class will focus on getting students Level 2 certified with Xactimate.

Course Requirements for Virtual Classroom
Students of this course should meet the following criteria before attending the virtual class:
- Dual monitors or two computers – One computer/monitor for MS Team class instruction and separate computer/monitor for Xactimate estimating.
- Have a laptop or desktop computer that has Xactimate’s latest version installed (X1) – (Verisk offers a 30-day free trial of the Xactimate program) - If you are not a current Xactimate customer, you can request a free 30 day demo from the Xactware website: Xactimate Demo Download Link
- External mouse
- High-speed internet connection
- Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Windows navigation
- Knowledge of the adjuster profession and basic understanding of damage identification/building components
- Successful completion of pre-study modules through KMC
- Communicating with Customers on Their Terms

- Residential Roof Systems & Repairs - Composition Shingles
What to Expect
This course will be instructed by a Xactimate Certified Trainer with over fifteen years of property adjusting experience and ten years of teaching the Xactimate program. This is a 5-day class starting on a Monday and ending on a Friday. The class begins promptly at 8:00 am (CST) and will end at 5:00 pm (CST). There will be two fifteen-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch.
Course Objectives
Students of this course will be taught:
- How to read and interpret an insurance policy
- Contacting the customer and customer care tips
- Proper file documentation
- Writing scenario-based estimates using the Xactimate program (Wind/Hail damaged roofs, tree on fence estimating, elevation repairs, and interior water damage) *Some classes will include flood losses
- Xactimate estimate setup (Adding coverages, deductible, price list selection, depreciation, and overhead & profit)
- Sketching roofs and interior floor plans in Xactimate (will include tools needed for complex roofs and interior sketches)
- Line item entry (Use of macros and templates)
- Xactimate Claim wrap up and reporting
- Settling the claim with the insured
- Xactimate Level 2 Exam Prep
