5-Day Adjuster Basics (Advanced Course)

Overview

The 5-Day Adjuster Basics Training is designed for students looking to sharpen their skills in the foundations of adjusting. The purpose of this class is to train seasoned adjusters in the specifics of handling claims for Crawford & Company clients. This training will include graded exercises with feedback provided throughout the course. Students will learn how to read and interpret an insurance policy, customer experience tips, scoping damage, file documentation and how to write professional estimates using Xactimate’s best practices. Upon satisfactory completion, the adjuster will be Crawford prepared to handle claims both in the field or from the desk/virtually for any of the companies that Crawford represents. This course is designed to build a solid foundation for an adjuster’s deployment with Crawford.

Course Requirements for Classroom Setting

Students of this course are encouraged to meet the following criteria before attending the class:

  1. Personal laptop with Xactimate installed (required)
  2. Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Windows
  3. Base knowledge of the adjuster profession and basic understanding of damage identification and building components

What to Expect

This course will be instructed by Crawford's exceptional training team. This is a 5-day class starting on a Monday and ending on a Friday. The class begins promptly at 8:00 am (CST) and will end at 5:00 pm (CST). There will be two fifteen-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch.

Course Objectives

Students of this course will be taught:

  1. How to read and interpret an insurance policy
  2. Contacting the customer and customer care tips
  3. Proper file documentation
  4. Writing scenario-based estimates using the Xactimate program (Wind/Hail damaged roofs, tree on fence estimating, elevation repairs, and interior water damage) *Some classes will include flood losses
  5. Xactimate estimate setup (Adding coverages, deductible, price list selection, depreciation, and overhead & profit)
  6. Sketching roofs and interior floor plans in Xactimate (will include tools needed for complex roofs and interior sketches)
  7. Line item entry (Use of macros and templates)
  8. Xactimate Claim wrap up and reporting
  9. Settling the claim with the insured
  10. Carrier-specific processes

*Attendees are eligible to receive $350 back if they deploy with Crawford (for at least 30 days) within 120 days of the event and are released with good standing.
