Crawford response
Commenting on what has been found so far, Graham Tolentino, country manager, Philippines, Crawford & Company said: “It’s too early to put definitive figures on the likely insured and uninsured losses. However, assignments already received suggest that the event will be more costly than the 2025 Cebu earthquake. We are coordinating our teams on the ground, and we have further Crawford resources from across the region standing by, to be called on as needed.”
Our capability
We anticipate that a number of losses may be significant, involving extensive property damage and elements of business interruption. Managing these will involve our Crawford Global Technical Services team as well as other specialist disciplines such as Crawford Forensic Accountancy Services. Experts from these teams are currently on standby for deployment.
As with all major catastrophes, the first few days will require thorough and expert assessment of exposures and safety issues to determine the best way to manage the event on behalf of our clients and their policyholders.

A powerful earthquake has struck the Philippines, impacting parts of the southern region, including Mindanao. Early reports indicate significant structural damage to buildings, disruption to critical infrastructure, and casualties, with emergency services mobilised across affected areas.
The earthquake, reported at a high magnitude, was followed by a series of aftershocks and prompted tsunami alerts in parts of the region, which were issued as a precautionary measure by authorities.
Local authorities, supported by national emergency agencies, have activated response protocols, including evacuation measures and the deployment of rescue and relief operations in impacted communities.
Damage has been reported across several locations, with some areas experiencing building collapses, including commercial premises and healthcare facilities.
Hospitals and emergency services have been operating under pressure, with some facilities sustaining damage and relocating patients to temporary outdoor treatment areas.
Authorities continue to assess the full extent of the impact, with ongoing aftershocks posing additional challenges to response efforts.
